The Convene Experience

A facilitated learning experience designed to help people explore how communication, assumptions, emotional reactions, and human interaction shape conversations, relationships, and communities.

What is the Convene Experience?

The Convene Experience is an interactive learning environment where participants engage in guided conversation, reflection, and discussion centered on human interaction and communication.

The experience was created to help people better understand what happens during moments of disagreement, uncertainty, emotional stress, and misunderstanding. Rather than focusing on political positions, ideology, or persuasion, Convene encourages participants to examine how conversations unfold, how assumptions form, and how reactions influence the direction of human interaction.

Participants are invited to slow down, reflect, listen, and become more aware of how they respond during difficult conversations and emotionally charged situations. The experience is designed to encourage openness, curiosity, and constructive engagement while helping people better understand themselves and the ways they interact with others.

Convene does not ask participants to agree with one another or adopt a shared worldview. We don’t want to eliminate differences. We want to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to create space for healthier, more thoughtful ways of navigating those differences.

What to Expect from the Convene Experience

Convene combines facilitated conversation, reflection exercises, interactive discussion, and small-group engagement in a setting designed to feel respectful, approachable, and emotionally safe.

Some moments are reflective and personal. Others are conversational and interactive. Participants are encouraged to think about their own experiences, responses, assumptions, and communication habits while also listening to the perspectives and experiences of others.

The experience is structured to encourage participation without pressure. People are not expected to have expertise, perfect answers, or complete agreement. The emphasis is on awareness, reflection, openness, and constructive dialogue.

Throughout the experience, participants explore how reactions, stress, interpretation, and communication patterns can influence relationships, conversations, and decision-making in everyday life.

Why the Convene Experience?

Many conversations today become difficult before real understanding has a chance to develop. We can quickly form assumptions during stressful or emotionally charged moments, and our reactions can shape our interactions before we have time to reflect on what’s happening.

We want to help people better understand these patterns and create space for more thoughtful and constructive engagement.

Our work begins with everyday human interaction: how we listen, react, communicate, disagree, and respond to one another in our daily lives.

Who is the Convene Experience For?

The Convene Experience is designed for people who are interested in healthier communication, thoughtful dialogue, stronger relationships, and greater awareness in how people engage with one another.

Participants may come from many different backgrounds and experiences. Some are educators, nonprofit leaders, students, facilitators, workplace professionals, or community members. Others simply want to better understand themselves, improve how they communicate, or learn how to navigate disagreement with greater openness and clarity.

No special background or expertise is required to participate. Convene is designed to be accessible, respectful, and welcoming to people with different perspectives and life experiences.

Looking Ahead

The Convene Experience represents ATFH’s first major educational and engagement initiative. As the organization continues to grow, ATFH hopes to expand opportunities for dialogue, partnership, community engagement, and additional learning experiences that build upon the ideas explored through Convene.

The organization views this work as an evolving process grounded in reflection, learning, conversation, and practical human engagement.
